United Weighs Garnacho Sale to Fund Gyokeres Deal

Manchester United's pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres might hinge on selling Alejandro Garnacho. The winger's limited playing time in the Europa League final has sparked doubts about his future at the club.

Manchester United is reportedly considering selling winger Alejandro Garnacho this summer to fund a potential move for Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres. According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils might accept a bid of around £60 million for Garnacho, which could pave the way for manager Ruben Amorim to reunite with Gyokeres, despite the striker's £83.6 million release clause.

Viktor Gyokeres, the Swedish international with 53 goals this season, tops Manchester United's wishlist as they overhaul their squad. To fund this potential move, United might sell Alejandro Garnacho for around £60 million. Garnacho's future is uncertain after being limited to just 20 minutes in the Europa League final, sparking doubts about his role under new manager Ruben Amorim. “Up until the final, I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know,” Garnacho expressed his confusion about his limited playing time.

“The final will influence (my decision), but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards.”

Alejandro Garnacho's brother, Roberto, expressed support for the winger on Instagram, suggesting he had been unfairly treated by posting that he had been “thrown under the bus.” Meanwhile, manager Ruben Amorim was questioned about his decision to bring Garnacho on late in the Europa League final.

“How many times have we had this conversation, and it was the opposite? Some players come in, like Mason Mount, against Athletic Club and change the game.

“So now it is easy to say. Who missed the big opportunity in the first half against Bilbao? Yeah (Garnacho). Of course, now it is easy for us to talk about a lot of views.”

Alejandro Garnacho's departure from Manchester United seems imminent, but the club's priority is to secure a substantial fee for the young winger to fund the potential signing of Viktor Gyokeres. However, United's absence from European competitions next season might deter Gyokeres, and Garnacho could potentially reconsider his future if United's situation continues to deteriorate.
