Ottawa Senators force Game 6 against Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes advance to second round, Vegas Golden Knights take 3-2 series lead over Minnesota Wild, and Edmonton Oilers lead series 3-2 against Los Angeles Kings.



The Ottawa Senators secured a crucial win against the Toronto Maple Leafs, keeping their playoff hopes alive. This intense matchup between the two Canadian teams showcased the Senators' determination to advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs.


The Carolina Hurricanes made history by becoming the first team to advance to the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs. They eliminated the New Jersey Devils, demonstrating their strength and skill in the competition.


Senators Force Game 6

The Ottawa Senators shut out the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0, forcing a Game 6 in the process. Thomas Chabot scored the game's first goal 4 minutes into the second period. Despite Toronto's 42 shots, goalie Linus Ullmark made crucial saves.


Dylan Cozens doubled Ottawa's lead with a shorthanded goal in the third period. Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle sealed the win with empty-net goals in the final minutes. The series now stands at 3-2 in favor of Toronto, with Game 6 scheduled for Thursday in Ottawa.


Hurricanes Advance to Second Round

The Carolina Hurricanes came from behind to defeat the New Jersey Devils 5-4 in double overtime, becoming the first team to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Devils took an early 3-0 lead with goals from Dawson Mercer, Timo Meier, and Stefan Noesen in the first 10 minutes.


The Hurricanes staged a remarkable comeback, ultimately winning the game in double overtime. The thrilling victory marked a significant moment for the Hurricanes, who demonstrated resilience and determination to overcome a challenging deficit.


The Hurricanes mounted a comeback in the second period, cutting the deficit to two goals just 106 seconds in, courtesy of Tyler Hall. Jackson Blake further narrowed the gap to one goal at the four-minute mark. Andrei Svechnikov tied the game 1:39 later.


However, New Jersey regained the lead less than two minutes later with a goal from Nico Hischier. The Hurricanes responded again, with Sebastian Aho leveling the score on a power play with 8:33 remaining in the second period.




The third period ended scoreless, with the Hurricanes outshooting the Devils 25-10, necessitating overtime. The first overtime period failed to produce a winner, leading to a second 20-minute session.


Carolina ultimately prevailed in double overtime, with Sebastian Aho scoring on a power play at 4:xx mark, securing the win and advancing the Hurricanes to the next round. They will await the winner of the Washington Capitals-Montreal Canadiens series, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday.


Golden Knights Take 3-2 Series Lead

The Vegas Golden Knights took a 3-2 series lead over the Minnesota Wild with a 3-2 overtime win. Brett Howden scored the winning goal in the first overtime period, securing the victory and forcing a Game 6 on Friday in Minnesota. This marks the Golden Knights' second consecutive overtime win in the series.


Oilers Take 3-2 Series Lead

The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on the road, taking a 3-2 series lead. After Andrei Kuzmenko gave the Kings an early lead in the second period, the Oilers responded with three unanswered goals from Evander Kane, Mattias Janmark, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.


Edmonton has now won three consecutive games after losing the series' first two matches in Los Angeles. Game 6 will be played in Canada on Friday.
