PSV's Peter Bosz: 'I Thought It Was Over' Before Title Win

PSV manager Peter Bosz reacts to his team's improbable title win, praising their resilience and good form in the latter part of the season.

PSV manager Peter Bosz expressed immense joy and pride after his team's improbable title win. PSV secured their 26th Eredivisie title and second consecutive league championship with a 3-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam. The team staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming a 9-point deficit to Ajax with just five games remaining and ultimately claiming the top spot.

“It was an incredible feeling,” Bosz said, reflecting on the dramatic turnaround. “I thought it was over when we were 9 points behind, but the players showed great character and determination to turn it around.”

PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz attributed his team's title triumph to a resurgence in form, saying, “After the home game against Ajax, I thought it wasn't going to happen anymore.” However, Bosz praised his team's revival, stating, “The turnaround is that we started playing good football again. That started before Ajax, but we have continued that. We have been playing good football again for a long time.”

PSV's season was marked by significant fluctuations, beginning with an impressive 10-game winning streak before struggling in the new year. The reigning champions managed just one win in their first seven league games of 2025 but staged a remarkable comeback, winning nine of their last 10 Eredivisie matches to secure the title.

Bosz Praises PSV's Resilience

“I was happy with the third,” PSV manager Peter Bosz said, reflecting on his team's recovery from a rough period in the season. “I think we have been playing good football again for a long time,” Bosz continued, highlighting the team's resilience and ability to bounce back from adversity.

“Today as well. If you see how many chances we get, and how few we give away. That's why I also like the fact that we became champions the way PSV plays football. Going up 1-0, but keeping going and not going backwards. That's not us. That's also why I think we were right to become champions.”

Match Reaction

PSV started the match against Sparta Rotterdam with attacking intent but had to wait for the breakthrough. After Ajax took the lead against FC Twente, Sparta equalized, putting PSV's title hopes in jeopardy for a brief moment. “We played well and got a lot of chances. But we scored only one goal, and then they equalised. That fits the picture for this season,” PSV manager Peter Bosz said. “But we scored the second right after that. And I was happy with the third, I must say.”
