Lamine Yamal Signs New Contract with Barcelona Until 2031

Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a new contract extension until 2031, with the deal including performance bonuses and a significant pay rise.

Barcelona's 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay until June 2031. The talented winger had a remarkable season, playing a key role in Barcelona's domestic treble win, which included LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

“Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached a deal to extend his contract to June 30, 2031,” the Catalan club announced in a statement, confirming the long-term extension. This ensures that one of their brightest young talents will remain at the club for years to come.

Barcelona described Lamine Yamal's contract extension as a testament to the club's strong project, saying, “Lamine Yamal's renewal is a demonstration of the solidity of Barca’s project.” The 17-year-old's rise to prominence has been remarkable, with his professional debut taking place on April 29, 2023, when he was just 15 years old.

Spanish media reports suggest Lamine Yamal's new deal makes him one of the club's highest-paid players. His impressive performances continued after his success at Euro 2024 with Spain, as he scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 matches across all competitions during the season.

Lamine Yamal, a skilled right winger known for his exceptional dribbling ability, played a crucial role in Barcelona's goal-scoring success this season. His speed and skill significantly contributed to the team's 102 league goals, helping Barcelona reclaim the LaLiga title from rivals Real Madrid.

A product of Barcelona's prestigious La Masia youth academy, Yamal made his professional debut in 2023 under Xavi Hernandez at the remarkable age of 15. He is often likened to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi due to his impressive talent and potential.

By the end of the 2023-24 season, Lamine Yamal had become Barcelona's key attacking threat, standing out in a disappointing campaign that saw the team finish without a major trophy.

After his impressive performances at the Euros, Yamal seamlessly adapted to Hansi Flick's attacking style, adding more consistency to his game and cementing his status as one of the world's top players.

Lamine Yamal delivered outstanding performances in the Champions League semi-finals against Inter Milan; however, Barcelona narrowly lost 7-6 on aggregate, prolonging their wait for a European title.

“I will keep my promise and I will bring (the Champions League trophy) to Barcelona, we will not stop until we get it,” Yamal vowed after the match, showcasing his determination. Despite his young age, the talented winger has already accumulated over 100 appearances for Barcelona.

Lamine Yamal, set to turn 18 in July, has followed in the footsteps of teammate Raphinha and coach Hansi Flick by signing a contract extension with Barcelona. The new deal, which keeps him at the club until 2031, makes him one of the team's top earners with a base salary of €15 million per season, potentially rising to €20 million with performance-related bonuses.

The contract includes bonuses for various achievements, such as winning the Ballon d'Or, and features a significant pay rise, making Yamal the highest-paid player in the squad, surpassing Robert Lewandowski's salary of €33 million per year. This deal showcases Barcelona's commitment to Yamal, who has become a key player for the team.

Yamal's impressive performances, including scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists in 55 appearances, have made him a candidate for the Ballon d'Or. His contract extension demonstrates Barcelona's confidence in his abilities and their desire to retain his talents long-term.
