Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over nine-man Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, with Kylian Mbappé contributing to his growing tally as LaLiga's top scorer.
Sevilla, having already secured safety in the league after a midweek win, might have harbored hopes of achieving a first home win against Real Madrid since September 2018, but the visitors proved too strong in the intense match conditions. Mbappé and Jude Bellingham were among the scorers.
Despite being assured of the runner-up spot, Real Madrid started the match with determination, dominating the first 15 minutes. However, controversy marred the early stages, with Loïc Badé being sent off for a challenge on Kylian Mbappé, although the foul's legitimacy was disputed due to Mbappé's theatrical fall.
Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde had early shots blocked, while Kylian Mbappé posed a growing threat down the left flank after a precise pass from Luka Modrić. However, under pressure from Nemanja Gudelj, Mbappé's side-footed effort went across the goal.
Sevilla's best chance of the first half fell to Jacobo Ramón, who lost possession to Álvaro Pascual before getting one-on-one with goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. The Ukrainian goalkeeper made a crucial save at the near post, forcing Jacobo's shot wide. Sevilla gained momentum from the near-miss, but their task became significantly more challenging just two minutes into the second half.
Isaac Romero, who came on as a halftime substitute, was initially given a yellow card for a reckless, studs-up challenge on Aurélien Tchouaméni. However, after a VAR review revealed that Romero had missed the ball entirely, the referee upgraded the card to red, dramatically altering the complexion of the match.
Shortly after, Mbappé unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box that flew just inches over the Sevilla bar. Despite this warning, the hosts failed to take heed, and the LaLiga top scorer eventually found his mark just five minutes later. Mbappé latched onto a scorching pass from Luka Modrić, which Adrià Pedrosa attempted to intercept with a slide tackle. Mbappé then fired a low, powerful shot into the far-left corner of Ørjan Nyland's goal.

Understandably, Sevilla struggled to pose a significant threat going forward, and the two red cards ultimately gave the match a sense of inevitability as it wore on. Real Madrid had ample time to add a second goal, which they did when a cross from the left flank was headed across the goal by Gonzalo García, landing perfectly for Jude Bellingham, who couldn't miss the open net from point-blank range.
With the win secured, Real Madrid's focus now shifts to Carlo Ancelotti's final match in charge of the team before he departs to take over as manager of the Brazil national side. Meanwhile, Sevilla remains focused on rebuilding over the summer, having extended their streak of losses as LaLiga home underdogs to five games this season, maintaining a 100% losing record in such matches.
