Griekspoor recently dropped one spot in the ATP rankings, now holding 35th place, following his early exit in Madrid where he lost to Jack Draper in straight sets.
In Rome, Griekspoor and Kecmanovic's match was disrupted by rain, but upon resumption, Griekspoor initially took control with a break in the fourth game. However, Kecmanovic regained momentum with two consecutive breaks, winning the first set 6-4.
Kecmanovic was poised to seal the win in the second set, but Griekspoor's improved service game turned the tide. Griekspoor won the set 6-3 after a single break, thanks to his strong serving, winning 86% of his first-serve points and his lone second-serve point.
In the third set, Kecmanovic struggled early, getting broken, and despite having break opportunities, Griekspoor ultimately dominated, closing out the match with a 6-0 bagel.
Tallon Griekspoor recently reached the quarterfinals at Indian Wells but had early exits in Monaco and Madrid. His next opponent in Rome will be Arthur Fils, who defeated him in Monaco.
