Injury Forces Alexander Isak to Miss Sweden Friendlies
Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson faces another blow as Alexander Isak pulls out of the national team due to injury. Read more about the team's upcoming friendlies.
Newcastle United's Alexander Isak has withdrawn from the Sweden national team due to a persistent groin issue. The striker will miss two upcoming international friendlies as he prioritizes his recovery. Isak had played the full 90 minutes in Newcastle's final Premier League match against Everton, which they lost 1-0, but his groin problem continues to cause concerns.
Alexander Isak's struggles with a groin injury likely contributed to his lackluster performance in Newcastle's 1-0 loss to Everton, where he played the full 90 minutes. The injury has now forced him to withdraw from Sweden's squad for upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Algeria. Isak will miss the matches on June 6 and June 10, ruling him out of adding to his 16 goals and 52 caps for Sweden.

Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson will again have to work with an incomplete attacking lineup, as he did in March when Viktor Gyokeres was unavailable. With Alexander Isak's withdrawal due to injury, Tomasson has called up Jordan Larsson of FC Copenhagen and Gustaf Nilsson of Club Brugge to compensate. These June friendlies against Hungary and Algeria will be the last opportunity for Tomasson to test his squad before World Cup qualification begins in September.
