Denmark Boosted by NHL Star Ehlers' Arrival Ahead of Germany Clash
Denmark's NHL stars Nikolaj Ehlers and Jonas Roendbjerg team up to lead the team in their World Championship campaign. Find out more about their journey.
Denmark's NHL star Nikolaj Ehlers is set to join the national team ahead of their crucial match against Germany, potentially boosting their chances of reaching the quarterfinals.
The Danish Ice Hockey Federation announced on Facebook, “If all goes according to plan, Ehlers will soon travel to Denmark to join the team before the match against Germany in the Boxen Arena.” This addition could be a significant boost for Denmark's campaign, which aims to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2016.
Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers is now free to join Denmark's World Championship squad after his team's elimination from the NHL playoffs on Sunday night. His addition could prove crucial for Denmark's final group match against Germany.
Ehlers' availability allows him to participate in the World Championship on home soil in the Boxen Arena, an opportunity he missed in 2018 due to NHL playoff commitments.
His last appearance in the national jersey was notable, as he contributed two assists in Denmark's successful Olympic qualification campaign last August.
With Ehlers joining the squad, Denmark now boasts two NHL players, alongside Jonas Roendbjerg, who scored twice in Denmark's 6-3 win over Norway.
