Bundesliga: Champions Bayern Munich Ends Season with Dominant 4-0 Victory
Bayern Munich celebrates its Bundesliga title with a 4-0 win over Hoffenheim, ending the season on a high note.
Bayern Munich celebrated their Bundesliga title with a resounding 4-0 win over Hoffenheim at the PreZero Arena. This victory capped off a dominant 2023/24 season, with the champions finishing on 82 points and extending their unbeaten streak to six matches.
Despite the heavy defeat, Hoffenheim avoided the relegation play-off due to results elsewhere, securing their top-flight status. They had a three-point lead and a +6 goal difference advantage over 16th-placed Heidenheim going into the final matchday.
The memory of their 5-0 thrashing in the reverse fixture may have had a psychological impact, and Bayern took control from the start despite already being champions. Konrad Laimer and Serge Gnabry both had long-range shots narrowly miss the target.
Hoffenheim managed to avoid further worsening their league-worst tally of 28 goals conceded in the opening half-hour. However, it seemed inevitable that their defensive resistance would eventually break under the pressure.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Michael Olise scored a stunning dipping free-kick into the bottom right corner, silencing the Hoffenheim fans. This marked his 12th league goal of the season.
Hoffenheim trailed for the fifth consecutive match, and overturning the deficit against Bayern's solid defense would be their biggest challenge yet, especially given the visitors' strong defensive record, reminiscent of their corresponding match last season.

The second half intensified when Andrej Kramarić threatened to equalize with a powerful shot. However, Joshua Kimmich soon delivered a decisive blow, capitalizing on Olise's cross from the right. His shot deflected off Leo Østigård into the near post, doubling Bayern's lead to 2-0.
The goal mirrored a pivotal moment from last season's dramatic encounter, where Hoffenheim staged a remarkable 4-2 comeback. But given the momentum, it seemed likely that Christian Ilzer's team would concede further goals.
Serge Gnabry sealed the win with a brilliant left-footed shot from the edge of the area, just 10 minutes from the end, shortly after Harry Kane hit the woodwork. This effectively put the match out of Hoffenheim's reach.
Kane then added a fourth goal, tapping in a point-blank shot into the top corner, marking Bayern's 99th Bundesliga goal of the season. This ensured a memorable finale for Thomas Müller, as Bayern celebrated their title win with a convincing victory, while Hoffenheim ended their campaign on a low note with a fifth consecutive winless game.
The match may have ended dully for Hoffenheim, but the real drama played out elsewhere. Heidenheim's loss to Werder Bremen meant they'd face a relegation playoff against the 2. Bundesliga's third-place team, a fate that ultimately didn't involve Hoffenheim.
