Atkinson Named NBA Coach of the Year After Stellar Season
Cleveland Cavaliers' Kenny Atkinson named NBA Coach of the Year, led team to No. 1 seed in Eastern Conference.
Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson was named the 2024-2025 NBA Coach of the Year, receiving 59 first-place votes and 401 points overall. Atkinson led the Cavaliers to a 64-18 season, the second-best record in team history, in his first year as head coach.

Kenny Atkinson, with seven years of NBA assistant coaching experience, including with the Golden State Warriors, and a previous stint as Brooklyn Nets head coach from 2016-2020, led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a remarkable season.

The Cavs finished as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and had the second-best record in the NBA. Currently, they're in the second round of the playoffs, having lost Game 1 to the Indiana Pacers, with Game 2 set for Tuesday, May 6th, in Cleveland.
