UEL: Bodo/Glimt Reach European Semi-finals for First Time


Bodo/Glimt became the first Norwegian team to reach a European semi-final after a dramatic 3-2 penalty win over Lazio.

The match took a dramatic turn in stoppage time when Tijjani Noslin tapped home, sending the game into extra time. Lazio took the lead on aggregate in the 100th minute when Boulaye Dia headed home from a Matteo Guendouzi chip. However, Bodo/Glimt refused to give up and scored again in extra time through Andreas Helmersen's header, which Mandas couldn't reach.




The drama intensified when Andreas Helmersen, the goalscorer, was sent off for a second bookable offense minutes later, leaving Bodo/Glimt to face the penalty shootout without him. In the shootout, Jens Petter Hauge's effort was easily saved by Christos Mandas, while Boulaye Dia scored, sending Nikita Haikin the wrong way.


Bodo/Glimt struggled to find their footing in the shootout, with Sondre Brunstad Fet scoring, but Loum Tchaouna's penalty being saved. Despite Tijjani Noslin missing, the visitors scored their next two penalties, setting up a crucial moment for Patrick Berg. However, Berg blazed his penalty over, and Lazio's Taty Castellanos also missed, paving the way for Bodo/Glimt's historic win.


In the end, Bodo/Glimt emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, winning 3-2 and securing their place in the semi-finals. This remarkable win marked a historic milestone for the Norwegian team.
