Stephen Bunting's historic European Tour victory has catapulted him to new heights, propelling him into the top four of the world rankings for the first time and sending him to the top of the PDC ProTour Order of Merit. This achievement comes nearly 11 years after his debut on the circuit, making it a long-awaited but well-deserved milestone. Bunting's win is a testament to his dedication and perseverance.

“It feels unbelievable,” Bunting exclaimed in a post-match interview with the PDC. “It's been a dream week for me. I'm just so happy to get the win,” he added, still basking in the glory of his triumph. Bunting credited his confidence boost from winning his first Premier League night, which seemed to carry over into his European Tour performance. While his opponent, Nathan, didn't quite reach his usual standards, Bunting acknowledged that they would likely face each other in many more competitive matches. “Nathan didn't play his best there, but I'm sure we're going to have many more battles,” he said with a smile.

Bunting also took a moment to express his gratitude to the German fans, saying, “It's been a long few days, but I love coming to Germany and playing in front of these fans.” This sentiment highlights the strong connection he has with the crowd and the energy they bring to the tournament. Throughout the tournament, Bunting demonstrated impressive form, averaging over 101 across all his matches. His strong performances on Finals Day were a key factor in his title win.

Bunting's journey to the title was marked by a series of impressive victories. He kicked off Finals Day with a 6-4 win over Cameron Menzies, where he averaged an impressive 105.51. He then followed this up with a convincing 6-2 victory over Karel Sedlacek in the quarter-finals. The semi-final match against Luke Humphries was a nail-biter, going all the way to a deciding leg, but Bunting managed to edge out his opponent. In the final, he maintained his strong form, averaging 100 to secure the title and overcome Aspinall, who was seeking consecutive European Tour titles.

Aspinall reflected on his performance, saying, “I ran out of steam in the final, but I'm proud of myself to have made back-to-back finals.” This statement highlights his resilience and determination, as he built on his recent win at the European Darts Trophy last month. Despite falling short in the final, Aspinall's progress is notable, and he remains positive about his recent form. In a candid revelation, Aspinall shared that he has been dealing with an ongoing injury issue that has affected his performances. “My arm is causing me a lot of pain,” he admitted, adding that he plans to take a few days' rest before his next Premier League match on Thursday. This injury concern may impact his upcoming schedule, but Aspinall's focus remains on managing his condition and returning to top form.
