Real Madrid's Mbappe Banned for Sunday's Match Against Athletic

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been handed a one-match suspension for his red card against Alaves. Mbappe will miss Sunday's match against Athletic, but is expected to return for El Clasico.

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been handed a one-match suspension by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for his tackle on Alaves' Antonio Blanco. Mbappe was given a straight red card in Sunday's game against Alaves for a violent challenge on Blanco, after the referee reviewed the incident via VAR.

The suspension means Mbappe will miss Real Madrid's upcoming match, but he is expected to return for El Clasico. The RFEF's decision confirms that Mbappe will face a short ban for his actions on the pitch.

The Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) Disciplinary Committee ruled that Kylian Mbappe's red card warranted a one-match suspension, the minimum sanction under article 130 of its regulations. Mbappe was sent off for a violent tackle on Alaves' Antonio Blanco.

Mbappe will miss Real Madrid's next match against Athletic on Sunday. Alaves' Manu Sanchez, who was also sent off for a similar challenge on Vinicius Jr in the same match, will serve a one-match ban. After the incident, Mbappe apologized to Blanco and his Real Madrid teammates.
