Montpellier Sacks Gasset, Appoints Camara as New Head Coach

Montpellier sacks Jean-Louis Gasset and appoints Zoumana Camara as new head coach, with the goal of turning the team's season around and avoiding relegation.

Montpellier, currently propping up the Ligue 1 table, are facing a daunting task to avoid relegation with six matches remaining. The club is 12 points from guaranteed safety, and their recent form has been disastrous. In response to their struggles, Montpellier sacked previous manager Jean-Louis Gasset on Monday, just five months into his tenure, following a dismal run of nine consecutive defeats.

The club has now appointed Zoumana Camara as their new head coach, with the stated goal of “preparing for the future as best as possible.” Camara brings a wealth of experience as a player, having won seven major trophies during his eight-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain. He joined PSG from Saint-Etienne in 2007 and enjoyed a successful spell, which included winning his only cap for France during their victorious 2001 Confederations Cup campaign.
