Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino remains confident about his team's chances of making a comeback in the Champions League semi-final. Despite losing the first leg to Paris Saint-Germain, Merino believes Arsenal can still reach the final.

Merino highlighted the team's ability to win away from home, stating they've “proved we can win anywhere.” He expressed his determination to overcome the deficit in the second leg in Paris.

Mikel Merino had a goal disallowed for offside early in the second half, but despite this setback, he remains optimistic about Arsenal's chances.

“Paris is a tough place to go, but we have always proved that we can compete against anybody, and with all due respect, I think we are going to win the second leg,” Merino said, expressing confidence ahead of the return match.

“We have proved we can win anywhere, the Bernabeu (beating Real Madrid 2-1) and against any side in the Premier League, too, so that gives us a lot of confidence.

”The result (at the Emirates) changes nothing because the mentality of this team is always to win, even if we were three up going to Paris.”

Mikel Merino played in midfield during the first leg due to Thomas Partey's suspension. However, with Partey set to return for the second leg in Paris, Merino's position could shift back to attack.

Both Arsenal and PSG are chasing history, as neither team has won the Champions League before, adding extra motivation to their semi-final clash.
