Manchester United Defender Diogo Dalot Sees Progress Under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot says the team is 'on the right track' despite their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, citing their fighting spirit and determination to improve.

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot remains optimistic about the team's direction under Ruben Amorim, despite suffering their 13th Premier League loss of the season at Nottingham Forest. United dominated possession at the City Ground but ultimately fell to a 1-0 defeat, courtesy of a stunning solo goal from Anthony Elanga, a United academy graduate.

The loss leaves United in a disappointing 13th place in the standings, with only eight matches remaining. They are now just one defeat away from equalling their record number of Premier League defeats in a single season, set under Erik ten Hag in the 2023/24 campaign. Despite this, Dalot sees encouraging signs as the team adapts to Amorim's tactics, citing their dominant possession and 23 shots on goal against Forest as evidence of progress.

Dalot's positive assessment suggests that United are “on the right track” under Amorim's guidance. While results have been inconsistent, the team's performances have shown glimpses of improvement, and Dalot believes this bodes well for the future. With several key matches remaining, United will look to build on these promising signs and finish the season on a stronger note.

Diogo Dalot has expressed his optimism about Manchester United's progress under Ruben Amorim, highlighting the team's fighting spirit as a key indicator of their desire to improve. “(Our fighting spirit) shows how much we wanted and shows how much we want to change the situation, to not be in the position that we are, especially in the Premier League,” Dalot told MUTV.

Dalot emphasized the importance of maintaining this level of commitment and performance if United are to become competitive in the future. “And if we want to be competitive in the future, we have to start behaving like this and we have to perform like this. Then I think the results will come in the end, but this little bit will have to come first if you want to compete for the Premier League and the biggest titles.”

Despite acknowledging that United still face challenges, Dalot believes they are heading in the right direction. “We still have to suffer a little bit, but in terms of trying to get out of this situation and trying to improve I think we are on the right track.” The defender reiterated this sentiment, emphasizing his confidence in the team's progress. “We still have to suffer a little bit, but in terms of trying to get out of this situation and trying to improve I think we are on the right track.”

Looking ahead, United face a crucial Manchester derby against Manchester City on Sunday, followed by the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Lyon in France next week.
