Diego Simeone Lauds Julian Alvarez's Exceptional Season

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone praises his team's effort in their comeback win against Real Valladolid, highlighting Julian Alvarez's crucial contributions.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone praised his team's effort in their 4-2 comeback win against Real Valladolid. “It happened against Sevilla and today too,” Simeone said, referring to the team's tendency to fall behind and then mount a comeback. Despite being the bottom side, Valladolid caught Atletico off guard with an early penalty.

Simeone wasn't bothered by this trend, emphasizing the team's reaction to adversity. “What's important is the team's reaction, the penalty and Giuliano's goal came, then we slowed the game down again but after that it went the way we wanted,” he explained. The team's ability to adapt and respond to challenging situations has been key to their success.

Atletico's win boosts their title hopes, narrowing the gap to Barcelona and Real Madrid to seven and three points, respectively. Simeone acknowledged the difficulties his team faces, saying, “We know that there is no such thing as an easy game, there will always be difficult moments. You can't control the game all the time.” Despite these challenges, Atletico's resilience and determination have allowed them to overcome obstacles and secure crucial victories.

Diego Simeone praised his team's effort in their comeback win, saying, “There are things you can't control and that happened today. But today we were able to work on it well with team effort, as we have been doing all season.” He highlighted the collective effort that led to their success.

Simeone also commended his son Giuliano's performance, admitting he had been surprised by his level throughout the season. “I didn't expect him to perform like this, I did expect him to help us. That's why I thought of having him as just another player in the squad,” Simeone said. He emphasized the importance of consistency for Giuliano.

Despite Giuliano's great season, Simeone reminded him that nothing is given for free. “Honestly, he's having a great season and hopefully he can keep it up. Nobody has given him anything for free and nobody is going to give it to him. He knows it, he knows me better than anyone,” Simeone said, stressing the need for Giuliano to maintain his performance.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone praised striker Julian Alvarez after his impressive performance against Real Valladolid. “Julian is having a great season, we need that player, especially in moments of the game against Sevilla and today,” Simeone said, highlighting Alvarez's crucial contributions to the team.

Alvarez has been in exceptional form, reaching 26 goals in all competitions this term, including 14 league goals. Simeone jokingly compared Alvarez's tally to Robert Lewandowski's, saying, “He has scored 14 league goals, but we tell him that (LaLiga's top scorer with 25 Robert) Lewandowski has scored many more,” Simeone added with a laugh, acknowledging Alvarez's outstanding season.

Simeone's praise for Alvarez underscores the striker's importance to the team, particularly in high-pressure situations. Alvarez's goalscoring ability has been a key factor in Atletico's success, and Simeone's comments reflect his appreciation for the player's hard work and dedication.
