Chelsea's Maresca Insists He Has Full Support of Club's Owners
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expresses confidence in the club's hierarchy's backing despite growing fan discontent and a string of poor results.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expressed confidence in the backing of the club's hierarchy despite growing fan discontent. “Absolutely yes, no doubt,” Maresca said when asked about his relationship with the club's owners.
Maresca pointed to the team's achievements, including a spot in the Conference League semi-finals and previously occupying Champions League positions for most of the season. “We have spent almost all season in a Champions League spot. We are in a European semi-final. So why now we need to change something?” he questioned.

Maresca acknowledged setbacks, such as the Legia Warsaw defeat, but believes they will make the team stronger. “For different reasons, we had setbacks like (against Legia), but for me, this makes us stronger for the future.” He remains steadfast in his approach, saying, “I don't have any doubt about what we are doing and the way we are doing.”
Chelsea captain Reece James criticized his team's performance against Legia Warsaw, stating they “disrespected” the Conference League. Maresca agreed with James' assessment, saying, “I think probably in part he was right in terms of, because of the first result, we tried to manage (the game) in the wrong way... Probably he's right in what he said.”
Maresca praised James' growing leadership skills, having previously criticized the player's lack of leadership earlier in the season. “My target was just this one, to try to get more from him. And now he's doing well also in terms of leadership,” Maresca said. James is now stepping up as a role model, and Maresca noted, “When you don't have a leader, at least you have to try to build some leaders. In this moment, Reece is doing well. We have two or three players who are making the effort to help the rest.”
