Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid Faces Tough Challenge in LaLiga Title Chase

Real Madrid looks to regroup and refocus on LaLiga after a disappointing Champions League exit, with Carlo Ancelotti's future hanging in the balance.

Real Madrid are seeking a domestic boost after their disappointing Champions League exit. The team was humiliated 5-1 on aggregate by Arsenal in the quarterfinals, leaving coach Carlo Ancelotti to regroup his squad. Real currently trails LaLiga leaders Barcelona by four points.

With their focus shifting back to LaLiga, Real Madrid aims to close the gap with Barcelona. Ancelotti's team will need to perform well in the upcoming matches to keep their title hopes alive. The challenge is significant, but Real's experience as reigning European champions gives them the confidence to bounce back.

Real Madrid's recent form has raised concerns, with the team winning only one of their last five matches. Their last victory was a 1-0 win over Alaves, but the team will be without top scorer Kylian Mbappe in their upcoming match against Athletic Club due to suspension. “It could be this year, next year, when my contract runs out (in June 2026)... There's no problem about it,” Ancelotti said when asked about his future.

Ancelotti's job security is uncertain, especially with the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona looming. Real's situation is complicated further by Barcelona's strong lead in LaLiga. If Barcelona secure points against Celta Vigo, Real's deficit could widen to seven points before their match against Athletic Club, a team that has been in excellent form.

Ancelotti reflected on the challenges of the season, saying, “We have done very well in the last seasons, but this year we have had to suffer. Things haven't gone as expected, but in sport it happens because there are no unbeatable teams.” He also expressed gratitude for his time at Real Madrid, stating, “But when I am done here, I will be grateful to this club. It could be tomorrow, in one year, or in 10 years, but I will be grateful to this club. And that's it, full stop.”
