When questioned about Atletico's ability to contend for the title, Simeone expressed confidence in his team, simply saying, “Yes.” This response reflects his determination to push for the top spot in LaLiga, despite the challenges they have faced recently. Atletico's 1-1 draw at 15th-placed Espanyol extended their winless run to three league games, making their upcoming matches crucial in their pursuit of the title.

Simeone also highlighted the significance of the legacy he and his team are creating at Atletico Madrid. Having guided the team to two LaLiga titles, including the 2020-21 season, as well as two Europa League trophies, Simeone expressed pride in his team's accomplishments. “But the most important thing is the legacy we're leaving,” he said. Simeone also praised his players, stating, “We compete very well against Real Madrid and Barcelona. I told the players the other day - I'm proud of them for the legacy they're leaving.
