During the match against Pakistan, Sharma briefly left the field after sustaining the injury while fielding. However, he later returned to score a quick 20, helping India secure a six-wicket victory and advance to the semi-finals. Providing an update on Sharma's condition, Ten Doeschate said, “He's all right. It's an injury he's had before, so he knows how to manage it really well.”
