PSV Return to Winning Ways with Dominant 3-0 Victory Over RKC Waalwijk

PSV earned a convincing 3-0 win over RKC Waalwijk, marking their first Eredivisie away victory of 2025. Ivan Perisic, Noa Lang, and Luuk de Jong scored the goals, boosting PSV's championship aspirations and providing a timely morale boost after their UEFA Champions League elimination.

PSV's talented front three played a key role in securing the team's first Eredivisie away win of 2025, defeating RKC Waalwijk on their home turf. This victory provides a significant boost to PSV's championship aspirations, as they aim to challenge for the title.

Following their disappointing elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Arsenal, PSV received a timely morale boost with the return of Sergino Dest from a lengthy injury layoff. The former FC Barcelona and Ajax full-back had been sidelined since April 2024 due to a torn ACL but made a successful return to the starting lineup against RKC Waalwijk.

PSV wasted little time in asserting their dominance, scoring just four minutes into the match through Ivan Perisic. The goal was the result of a well-executed team move, which began with Joey Veerman intercepting the ball in midfield. Veerman then released Luuk de Jong, who cleverly put Perisic in a prime scoring position. The former World Cup finalist made no mistake, beating goalkeeper Jeroen Houwen with a precise strike towards the near post.

Ivan Perisic played a crucial role in PSV's second goal, providing the assist for Noa Lang's strike. Perisic popped up on the left side of the pitch and delivered the ball to Lang, who followed his teammate's example by firing a shot towards the near post. The speed and precision of Lang's strike left goalkeeper Jeroen Houwen with no chance of making a save.

PSV sealed the win with a textbook header from Luuk de Jong. Joey Veerman delivered a pinpoint cross into the penalty area, and De Jong, renowned for his aerial prowess, rose above the defense to head the ball home. This goal capped off a convincing 3-0 victory for PSV, marking their first win on the road since December 1st, 2024, when they defeated FC Utrecht 5-2.

The win in Waalwijk was a significant one for PSV, as it ended a four-game winless streak on the road. The reigning champions now temporarily narrow the gap to Ajax to five points, although Ajax has a tricky home game against AZ to come. This pivotal victory gives PSV a much-needed boost in their pursuit of the title.

NEC Secure Crucial Win Over FC Utrecht

NEC gave themselves a massive boost in their bid to avoid relegation, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over third-placed FC Utrecht at Stadion Galgenwaard. The decisive moment came just eight minutes before full-time, when Vito van Crooij converted a penalty kick, awarded after American international Paxten Aaronson was fouled. NEC's win was sealed thanks to a brilliant save by Robin Roefs, who parried a late effort from Sebastien Haller.

This victory marked NEC's first Eredivisie win since January 19th, ending a seven-game winless streak that had seen them slide into the relegation battle. The three points propel NEC up to 11th place, now five points clear of the relegation zone.

In other Eredivisie action, Sparta Rotterdam and PEC Zwolle shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Olivier Aertssen put the visitors ahead in the 48th minute, but Tobias Lauritsen equalized just two minutes later with a peculiar goal from a rainbow cross by Mitchell van Bergen.

Heerenveen and Heracles also played out a 1-1 draw in the north of the country. Jizz Hornkamp opened the scoring after eighteen minutes, capitalizing on a mistake by former Dutch international Andries Noppert. Marcus Linday pulled Heerenveen level on the cusp of half-time.
