Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber will play no part in the second leg of their Nations League quarter-final against Spain, the Dutch FA announced on Friday. Timber missed the first leg, a 2-2 draw in Rotterdam on Thursday, due to illness and will not recover in time for the return match in Valencia on Sunday.

The Dutch team will also be without 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato, who received a red card late in Thursday's game and is subsequently suspended. As a result, Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman has been forced to make adjustments to his squad, calling up Aston Villa defender Ian Maatsen as cover.
Maatsen, who received a similar emergency call-up during last year's European Championship, is yet to make his debut for the Netherlands. The 21-year-old will join the Dutch squad in Valencia as they prepare to face Spain in the second leg of their Nations League quarter-final on Sunday.
