Get the latest NHL roundup: Colorado Avalanche shut out St. Louis Blues 5-0, Dallas Stars defeat Vancouver Canucks 5-3, Buffalo Sabres edge Nashville Predators 4-3, and Columbus Blue Jackets stun Seattle Kraken 3-2 in overtime.

The Colorado Avalanche ended their four-game losing streak in resounding fashion, securing a 5-0 shutout victory over the St. Louis Blues on Friday. The win marked a much-needed turnaround for the Avalanche, who had struggled in recent games. Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars also earned a win, with Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson each scoring two goals in a victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

The Avalanche's dominant performance was fueled by a strong first period, during which they scored four consecutive goals. Jonathan Drouin led the charge, scoring two goals in the opening frame, while Martin Necas, the team's recent trade acquisition, and Cale Makar also found the back of the net. Joel Kiviranta added the final goal of the game, capping off an impressive shutout win for the Avalanche.

Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood was instrumental in the Avalanche's victory, earning his second shutout of the season and 11th of his career. The win improved Colorado's record to 30-21-2, while the Blues suffered their fourth consecutive loss, dropping to 23-25-4. The two teams will face off again on February 23rd, providing the Blues with an opportunity to exact revenge.

Stars Shine Bright in 5-3 Win Over Canucks

The Dallas Stars delivered a standout performance on Friday night, defeating the Vancouver Canucks 5-3. Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz led the charge, each scoring a pair of goals. Oskar Back got the Stars on the board first, netting his third goal of the season in the opening period.

The Stars' efficiency was impressive, as they managed to score five goals on just 16 shots. In contrast, the Canucks fired 29 shots but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Conor Garland, Jake DeBrusk, and Carson Soucy scored for the Canucks, but their efforts were not enough to extend their three-game win streak. With the loss, Vancouver falls to 23-18-10, while Dallas improves to 33-17-1. The two teams will not meet again until March 9th.

Sabres Edge Predators 4-3 for Back-to-Back Wins

The Buffalo Sabres have built momentum with their second consecutive win and third victory in their last five games, defeating the Nashville Predators 4-3. Jiri Kulich played a pivotal role, scoring two crucial goals – one in the first period and another in the third. The Sabres initially fell behind as the Predators scored three consecutive goals to take the lead, but Buffalo rebounded with goals from Jason Zucker and Kulich to secure the win.

The Predators' struggles in net continued, with Justus Annunen failing to record a shutout this season. His record stands at 12-9, with an average of 3.01 goals allowed per game. Despite their win, the Sabres still hold the worst record in the Eastern Conference, improving to 20-26-5. The Predators, meanwhile, possess the third-worst record in the Western Conference.

Blue Jackets Stun Kraken with 3-2 Overtime Victory

The Seattle Kraken's 2-0 lead proved short-lived, as the Columbus Blue Jackets stormed back with three unanswered goals to secure a thrilling 3-2 overtime win. Nick Schmaltz and Alexander Kerfoot had given the Kraken a promising start, but the Blue Jackets' resilience paid off. Kirill Marchenko and Kent Johnson scored crucial goals to send the game into overtime, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

Zach Werenski proved to be the hero, scoring the game-winner just 61 seconds into overtime. The Kraken's loss marks their fourth consecutive defeat, and they now hold the second-most overtime losses in the Western Conference. The Blue Jackets' comeback victory, on the other hand, provides a significant boost to their morale and momentum.
