Amorim Eyes Everton Win as Manchester United's Premier League Priority

Ruben Amorim is prioritizing Manchester United's Premier League match against Everton, saying he 'just wants to win' after a difficult spell.

Manchester United is set to receive a significant boost ahead of their Premier League match against Everton on Saturday, as Christian Eriksen, Manuel Ugarte, and Leny Yoro are expected to return to the squad. This news comes as a welcome relief for manager Ruben Amorim, who has been dealing with a string of injuries to key players.

During Friday's press conference, Amorim expressed his satisfaction with the team's improved injury situation. “Yes, because we don't lose players. We recover players - Chris, Manu, and Leny return,” he said with a smile. This positive update suggests that Amorim will have a stronger squad at his disposal for the crucial match against Everton.

Amorim also took the opportunity to clarify his previous comments regarding Christian Eriksen's absence from the team's 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday. Amorim had mentioned Eriksen's “heart situation,” which led to some confusion. However, Eriksen later revealed on Instagram that he was simply suffering from a virus. Amorim sought to clear up any misunderstanding, saying, “With Chris, it was a misunderstanding. I want to be really clear on that also, because of Chris, he's healthy and ready to play for many years at a high level.”

Amorim acknowledged that his explanation of Eriksen's injury may have been unclear, and he wanted to reassure everyone that the player's health is not a concern. “It's just my limitations explaining the injuries. I want to make this really clear,” Amorim said, emphasizing his commitment to transparency and accuracy when discussing player injuries.

The upcoming match between Manchester United and Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday is a crucial one for both teams, who are currently mid-table in the Premier League standings. United is struggling in 15th place, 12 points above the relegation zone and just one point behind 14th-placed Everton.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim provided an update on the team's injury situation, expressing uncertainty about the return timeline for several players. “It's hard to know (about the others),” he said. Amorim confirmed that Amad Diallo will likely miss the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury. He also provided updates on the recoveries of Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, and Luke Shaw, saying, “Amad is (out) for a long time. I think Mase (Mount) continues to make his recovery. Luke continues to make his recovery. I don't have a day (for his return). Toby seems to be the closest one, but not now. Kobbie is recovering. We have to adapt to use the players we have for the schedule.”

Amorim emphasized the importance of focusing on the team's immediate Premier League challenges, rather than looking ahead to their Europa League tie against Real Sociedad. Speaking to reporters after the Europa League draw, Amorim said, “I just want to win against Everton. We are in a difficult situation in the Premier League, and we have a lot of issues to solve in every game.” He stressed that his priority is the Premier League, saying, “If I see our performances, and focus on Real Sociedad or think about trophies in the moment, it is not the right way to do my job. I just want to win against Everton.”
