Ruben Loftus-Cheek Sidelined with Hamstring Injury Ahead of AC Milan's Serie A Clash
Ruben Loftus-Cheek's hamstring injury will keep him out of AC Milan's next two Serie A matches, with the Champions League visit of Girona also at risk.
AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been ruled out of the team's upcoming league fixtures due to a hamstring injury. The 28-year-old England international will miss matches against Como and Cagliari, the Serie A club announced on Friday.
According to a statement from Milan, Loftus-Cheek “will be re-assessed in about a week due to the recurrence of a hamstring problem in his right thigh.” This latest setback is a blow to Loftus-Cheek, who has seen limited action for Milan recently, with his only appearance in the last month being a substitute role in the thrilling Super Cup final win over Inter.

AC Milan will face a busy schedule without Ruben Loftus-Cheek, hosting Cagliari on Saturday before travelling to Como on Tuesday. The Como fixture is one of two games that Sergio Conceicao's new team have in hand. Loftus-Cheek's injury also puts him at risk of missing Milan's clash with rivals Juventus on February 18th, with the Champions League visit of Girona coming the following Wednesday. Milan are eighth in Serie A, 17 points behind leaders Napoli, but have a good chance of direct qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League as they are a point from the top eight with two league phase matches remaining.
