Novak Djokovic Hopes to Play in Davis Cup Clash Against Denmark
Novak Djokovic has been selected for Serbia's Davis Cup team, but his participation in the clash against Denmark is uncertain due to his Australian Open schedule and physical condition.
Holger Rune, Denmark's top tennis player, has confirmed his availability to represent his country in the upcoming Davis Cup match against Serbia in Copenhagen. Despite being eliminated in the fourth round of the Australian Open by Jannik Sinner, Rune is eager to take on the challenge. In ten days, Denmark will face Serbia at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, and Rune has already been selected for the team.
Rune had been uncertain about participating in the Davis Cup due to the Australian Open, but now that his campaign has ended, he is ready to commit to playing for Denmark. “100 percent. If I am physically ready, I am convinced that I will play,” Rune told (link unavailable) He expressed his enthusiasm for representing his country, highlighting the unique experience of playing for Denmark. “I am very much looking forward to coming back to Denmark and playing for my country. It's a different feeling than playing out on tour.”

Both guys immediately kneel over in exhaustion when the point is done.
Giving every last drop of energy.

Rune is particularly excited about the prospect of facing Novak Djokovic, Serbia's top player, in the Davis Cup match. “Hopefully we will get the match that everyone wants, between Djoko' and me,” he said. However, Rune is also aware of the challenges posed by Serbia's team, having previously played against their second-best player, Kecmanovic. “Otherwise, it will still be some good matches. Serbia is a tough opponent. I played against Kecmanovic, who is their second-best player. So it will probably be fun,” Rune added.
Serbia has named world tennis star Novak Djokovic to their team for the upcoming Davis Cup clash, but his participation is contingent upon his progress at the Australian Open. Djokovic's availability will depend on how far he advances in the tournament, with his quarter-final match against Carlos Alcaraz scheduled for Tuesday.
Djokovic expressed his intention to participate in the Davis Cup clash, but cautioned that his involvement is not guaranteed. “I hope I come. The plan is for me to take part. I'm on the team,” he said during a press conference before the Australian Open. However, Djokovic also emphasized the need to assess his physical condition after the Australian Open, given the short turnaround before the Davis Cup match.
The Davis Cup clash between Serbia and their opponents is scheduled to take place in Copenhagen from January 31 to February 1. Djokovic's potential participation would undoubtedly be a significant boost to the Serbian team, but his focus for now remains on the Australian Open. “But because it's only a few days after the Australian Open final, we'll have to see how I play here and how I feel. Hopefully I can be available for our captain and play,” Djokovic added.
