Motta Hails Improving Juventus After Deserved Victory Over AC Milan

Juventus secured a 2-0 victory over AC Milan in Serie A, with goals from Samuel Mbangula and Timothy Weah, to leapfrog into the top four and remain unbeaten in the domestic campaign.

Juventus coach Thiago Motta was full of praise for his team's consistency after they secured a well-deserved 2-0 home win over AC Milan in Serie A on Saturday. Motta attributed the victory to the hard work and dedication of his players, saying, “Today we played a great game, games like this are won with a lot of daily work from these guys whom I thank.” He also commended his team's improvement, noting, “They are improving because they work with a lot of commitment, overcoming the many difficulties we have had. Victories like these are the right reward.”

The win propelled Juventus into the Serie A top four, with the team remaining unbeaten in the domestic campaign. However, they had drawn seven of their previous eight league games, including the last three. Motta reflected on their recent performance, saying, “In the last match with Atalanta we made some technical errors that gave confidence to the opponent.” He emphasized that his team had learned from those mistakes and had implemented a more effective strategy against AC Milan.

Motta highlighted the significance of his team's defensive solidity, stating, “Today the opposing team understands that they are facing a team with a good defensive phase, and they play good football by putting intensity and quality to be superior.” This approach paid off, as Juventus secured the three points courtesy of second-half goals from Samuel Mbangula and Timothy Weah.

Juventus dictated the pace of the game, enjoying more possession and creating better scoring opportunities, ultimately limiting AC Milan's attacking threat. As a result, Milan failed to score for only the second time in their last 30 Serie A away games, with both instances occurring against Juventus. Coach Thiago Motta revealed his team's strategy, saying, “We wanted to be aggressive, not give Milan time to play and limit the tranquillity of their goalkeeper who knows how to think logically and find the free man.”

Motta was pleased with his team's execution, noting, “The boys did it well with a lot of energy and I'm happy because in the end it went well.” The coach's tactical approach paid off, as Juventus secured a 2-0 victory over their opponents. Motta also took the opportunity to praise the performance of youngster Samuel Mbangula, who opened the scoring for Juventus.

Motta sang the praises of Mbangula, highlighting his consistent contributions to the team. “Beyond the goal he scored today, he's a guy who helps a lot, he's working well and has always been available,” Motta said. The coach also commended Mbangula's durability, noting, “He's never been out due to injury or suspension and when he's participated he's always given his contribution to the team.”
