Ireland Name Team for Six Nations Opener Against England

Ireland has announced its starting lineup for the Six Nations opener against England, with Sam Prendergast set to make his tournament debut at fly-half.

Sam Prendergast is set to make his Six Nations debut at fly-half for Ireland in their title defence opener against England in Dublin on Saturday. The 21-year-old has been chosen to start ahead of Jack Crowley, who played a key role in Ireland's title-winning campaign last year but will now begin the match on the bench.

Interim Ireland coach Simon Easterby has made several notable selections for the England clash. Ryan Baird has been recalled to the back row, while Garry Ringrose has been preferred to Leinster teammate Robbie Henshaw at outside centre. Easterby is currently in charge of the team, as regular coach Andy Farrell is seconded to the British and Irish Lions for their 2025 tour of Australia.
