Dominic Solanke Sidelined for Six Weeks with Knee Injury
Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke will miss around six weeks of action due to a knee injury, adding to the club's growing injury list.
Tottenham Hotspur's injury woes have deepened, with striker Dominic Solanke set to miss around six weeks of action due to a knee injury sustained in training. According to manager Ange Postecoglou, Solanke will not require surgery, but his absence will still be felt. Solanke joins a lengthy injury list that includes goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, as well as Brennan Johnson, among others.
The injury to Solanke is the latest blow to a Tottenham team that has struggled in the Premier League, slumping to 15th place after a dismal run of one win in 10 league matches. Postecoglou provided an update on Solanke's condition after his side's 3-2 Europa League win at Hoffenheim on Thursday. “With Dom, the information now is around the six-week mark with him,” Postecoglou told reporters. “No surgery but we're looking around six weeks. It might be quicker but we'll see.”
Tottenham will look to bounce back from their recent struggles when they host Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday. With Solanke sidelined, Postecoglou will need to find alternative options to spearhead his team's attack. The Australian manager will be hoping that his team can build on their Europa League win and start to turn their season around.
