Denmark reaffirmed their dominance over Germany, replicating their Olympic final victory with a convincing 40-30 win in Herning. This match marked the opening day of the main round and showcased Denmark's prowess against their German counterparts.

Emil Nielsen started in goal for Denmark, while David Späth manned the posts for Germany. However, both goalkeepers endured a difficult day as the opposing attacks delivered impressive performances, particularly during the first half and significant parts of the second.

Led by the in-form duo of Simon Pytlick and Mathias Gidsel, Denmark effortlessly breached the German defense, swiftly establishing a 14-9 lead midway through the first half. The Danes boasted an impressive 80% shot efficiency before the break, while Germany managed a respectable 75%. The two teams combined for 43 goals in the opening 30 minutes, making for a highly entertaining first half.

Germany displayed their determination to mount a comeback after the break, narrowing the gap to 22-26. However, this resurgence only seemed to galvanize Denmark, who increased their pace and established a 33-26 lead with just 10 minutes remaining. Although Denmark's shot efficiency had dropped after the break, they maintained their momentum.

Denmark ultimately cruised to a well-deserved 40-30 victory, marking a historic milestone as Germany conceded 40 goals for the first time in the history of the Men's World Cup.
