Ajax's Devyne Rensch Completes Transfer to AS Roma
AS Roma and Ajax have agreed on a transfer fee for Devyne Rensch, with the 22-year-old right-back set to join the Italian club in a deal worth up to €6 million.
According to reports from Dutch media, AS Roma and Ajax have come to a mutually agreeable transfer fee for the services of 22-year-old right-back Devyne Rensch. The two clubs have reportedly settled on an initial transfer fee of €5 million, with the potential for the amount to increase to €6 million through additional performance-based incentives.
The transfer development comes after Rensch and Ajax had initially agreed on a contract extension. However, further review of the deal by Ajax revealed that it could not be finalized due to tax-related issues. As a result, the proposed contract extension was ultimately scrapped, paving the way for Rensch's potential move to AS Roma.
Devyne Rensch's Thoughtful Decision to Leave Ajax
Devyne Rensch demonstrated his loyalty to Ajax by choosing a winter transfer, ensuring the club would receive a transfer fee. Having joined Ajax's youth academy in 2016, Rensch wanted to show appreciation for the club's investment in his development. This decision led to him being benched for Ajax's Sunday Eredivisie match against Heerenveen, which ended in a 2-0 win.

Rensch made a brief appearance in the match, marking his 156th senior appearance for Ajax before departing. According to Tim van Duijn, Rensch will not be eligible to play for Roma in their upcoming Europa League fixtures against RFS and Galatasaray. Notably, Roma had previously expressed interest in signing Rensch during the summer of 2024, but were unable to secure the transfer at the time.
