EPL: Guardiola Reminds Liverpool Fans of His Premier League Pedigree

Pep Guardiola reminded Liverpool fans of his six Premier League titles in seven seasons after being taunted during Manchester City's 2-0 defeat at Anfield.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola responded to taunts from Liverpool fans during Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Anfield by reminding them of his impressive Premier League title haul. As City suffered their sixth defeat in seven games, falling 11 points behind Liverpool in the table, the home fans began to chant “you're getting sacked in the morning” in Guardiola's direction.

The City boss, who has won six Premier League titles in the past seven seasons, appeared to take umbrage with the jibes, subtly reminding the Liverpool faithful of his impressive managerial credentials. Guardiola's response was a clear indication that he remains confident in his abilities, despite City's recent slump in form.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, 53, recently committed to a contract extension at the Etihad until 2027. However, he has made it clear that he will not hesitate to step down if the team's performance does not improve. Despite this, Guardiola could not resist responding to the Liverpool fans' taunts by subtly flashing six fingers, symbolizing his six Premier League title wins.

Two of those title triumphs came at Liverpool's expense, with City pipping the Reds to the championship by a single point in both the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons. Nevertheless, Guardiola's struggles at Anfield continued, with Sunday's defeat marking his sixth loss in 10 visits to the stadium as City manager. The Catalan's sole victory at Anfield came in 2021, when the match was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
