Amorim Criticizes Rashford's Entourage Amid Transfer Speculation

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has questioned the decision-making of Marcus Rashford's camp amid speculation about the striker's future at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag's replacement Ruben Amorim, has expressed his concerns regarding the decision-making of those surrounding striker Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old forward has been omitted from the squad for the last three games, sparking speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim's decision to leave Rashford out of the squad for Sunday's 3-0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth at home has fueled rumors that the striker is seeking a departure from Manchester United. Amorim's comments suggest that he is unhappy with the way Rashford's camp has handled the situation, implying that their decision-making may not be in the best interest of the player or the club.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim's decision to omit Marcus Rashford from the squad began with the 2-1 derby win at Manchester City on December 15th. Interestingly, this move came just two days before Rashford expressed his desire for “a new challenge” in an interview, having been at Old Trafford since the age of seven.

Amorim has since acknowledged that his team is “better with Marcus Rashford,” but he has now raised concerns about the influence of those surrounding the player. In an interview with Sky Sports, Amorim stated: “It is a hard situation. I understand that these players have a lot of people around them, making choices that are not the first idea from the player.” This comment suggests that Amorim believes Rashford's comments may have been influenced by his entourage, rather than being a genuine expression of his desires.

“I am always here to help Marcus as another player. I have to do what I have to do. They chose to do the interview as it is not just Marcus. I understand that.

“As a coach I focus on performance and the way you train. The rest, it is better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes.

“At the moment I focus on improving Marcus and we need a talented guy like Marcus. I forget the interview now and see what I see on the pitch.”

Since Ruben Amorim took the reins at Manchester United last month, Marcus Rashford has managed to score three goals. However, his performance in the 2-1 Europa League win at Viktoria Plzen on December 12th was cut short, as he was substituted off in the 56th minute. The decision was met with discontent from the supporters, who booed Rashford as he departed the pitch.

Rashford is still struggling to recapture the scintillating form that saw him score an impressive 30 goals in all competitions during the 2022-23 season. Despite showing glimpses of his talent, the striker has yet to find the consistency and rhythm that made him a key player for Manchester United last term.
