Alessandro Nesta Sacked as Monza Manager After Winless Run

Monza has sacked manager Alessandro Nesta after a dismal nine-game winless run in Serie A. Discover the latest updates on the club's search for a new manager.

Serie A strugglers Monza have parted ways with manager Alessandro Nesta, the club announced on Monday. The decision comes after a dismal nine-game winless streak, which has left Monza rooted to the bottom of the league table with a solitary victory all season.

Alessandro Nesta, a renowned former Italy international and defender who had successful stints with Lazio and AC Milan during his playing career, took the reins at Monza at the end of last season. His appointment followed the departure of Raffaele Palladino to Fiorentina. Unfortunately, Nesta's first foray into Serie A management has been cut short due to the team's poor performance.

Monza's dismal run of form continued on Sunday, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Juventus at home. This loss marked their third consecutive defeat and their ninth in 17 games, highlighting the team's struggles this season. Furthermore, Monza have now gone nine games without a win, with their sole league victory this campaign coming against Hellas Verona in October.

According to reports from the Italian media, Salvatore Bocchetti, former assistant coach at Verona, has emerged as the top contender to succeed Alessandro Nesta as Monza's manager. As the club seeks to turn their fortunes around, they face a crucial away fixture against Parma on Saturday. Parma currently sit 17th in the standings, five points ahead of Monza, making this encounter a vital six-pointer in the battle to avoid relegation.
