Xabi Alonso Confident of Leverkusen's Chances Against Union Berlin

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is confident his team can secure a third consecutive win when they face Union Berlin on Saturday.

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is eager to see his team extend their winning streak to three games across all competitions when they face Union Berlin on Saturday. A victory would demonstrate that Leverkusen have regained their consistency, a key factor in their successful campaign last season.

Leverkusen has been in impressive form, having secured two convincing wins in their last two outings. They began by thrashing Heidenheim 5-2 in the league, followed by a resounding 5-0 victory over RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday. These wins have instilled confidence in the team, and they are now focused on maintaining this momentum against Union Berlin.

“We want to have again a good feeling. After (the win over) Heidenheim it was better and it was certainly better after Salzburg,” coach Xabi Alonso told a press conference ahead of Saturday's match.

“Tomorrow is a different game... but it is a good moment to show that after two good games, we can play a third good one in a row. I want another clean sheet tomorrow.”

Despite their recent successes, Bayer Leverkusen's league form has been inconsistent, with only one win in their last four matches. As a result, they currently sit in fourth place with 20 points, trailing leaders Bayern Munich by nine points. Bayern Munich will face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, while Leverkusen will look to close the gap when they take on Union Berlin.

Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is aware of the challenges that lie ahead, particularly in their upcoming match against Union Berlin. “We know we expect something different against Union and a big challenge in front of us,” Alonso acknowledged. He also emphasized the physical demands of the game, stating, “We have to be prepared for a physical game.”

Bayer Leverkusen's recent performances have shown promise, but they have struggled to maintain consistency throughout the season. In fact, they have only managed to secure three consecutive victories across all competitions once, which was back in September.

Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is eager to build on the team's recent successes and establish a positive momentum. “We want to have again a good feeling,” Alonso expressed during a press conference ahead of Saturday's match against Union Berlin. He also highlighted the team's improved morale following their recent wins, stating, “After (the win over) Heidenheim it was better and it was certainly better after Salzburg.”

“Tomorrow is a different game... but it is a good moment to show that after two good games, we can play a third good one in a row. I want another clean sheet tomorrow.”
