Red Star Belgrade took control of their Champions League match against Stuttgart with two quick-fire goals, sealing a comprehensive 3-1 victory in Serbia.

Red Star Belgrade ended their five-year wait for a Champions League victory in style, thrashing Stuttgart 3-1 in Serbia. The win was made all the more sweet by the fact that it was Stuttgart loanee Silas who scored a crucial goal against his parent club.

The visitors took an early lead through Ermedin Demirovic's fourth-minute strike, but their advantage was short-lived. Silas, a DR Congo forward who was sent on loan to Red Star by Stuttgart in September, produced a moment of magic to level the scores. His superb solo goal left the Stuttgart defense reeling and paved the way for Red Star's dominant performance.

Red Star Belgrade took control of the match with two quick-fire goals. Rade Krunic scored from close range in the 31st minute to put the hosts ahead, and they never looked back. Mirko Ivanic then headed a third goal midway through the second half, sealing a comprehensive 3-1 victory for Red Star Belgrade.

Red Star's remarkable night took another thrilling turn when substitute Nemanja Radonjic struck on the counterattack in the 69th minute. Radonjic's impact off the bench was nothing short of spectacular, as he sealed the win with his second goal, Red Star's fifth, just two minutes from time.

The hosts had been enduring a dismal run in the Champions League, having lost their previous four group stage matches this season. However, Red Star's victory marked a triumphant return to winning ways in Europe's premier competition, with their last win dating back to October 2019 when they defeated Olympiacos 3-1.

Stuttgart's sole victory in this season's Champions League campaign remains their surprise 1-0 win over Juventus on matchday three. Despite this upset, the team has struggled to replicate this success, leaving them with a significant challenge to turn their season around.
