Lecce picked up a vital point in their Serie A survival bid, drawing 1-1 with Empoli courtesy of Pierotti's late strike.



Lecce secured a crucial 1-1 draw against Empoli at the Stadio Via del Mare on Friday evening, as Santiago Pierotti's equalizer canceled out Pietro Pellegri's first-half opener.


Going into the match, Lecce sat at the bottom of the Serie A table with eight points from 11 games, while Empoli occupied 12th place with 14 points.


Luca Gotti opted for Nikola Krstovic as his lead striker, while Roberto D'Aversa chose Lorenzo Colombo and Pietro Pellegri in his 3-5-2 formation.


Pellegri repaid D'Aversa's faith by scoring his second goal in consecutive games, unleashing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after 33 minutes.
