Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf presents 2025 'Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development', allocating N549.1 billion to drive growth and development. Education tops the list with 31% (N168.3 billion), followed by Health (16.5%, N90.6 billion), and Infrastructural Development (12.8%, N70.6 billion).



Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has unveiled the 2025 Appropriation Bill, dubbed the “Budget of Hope, Human Capital and Economic Development,” with a total allocation of N549.1 billion. This proposed budget prioritizes social and economic sectors, earmarking N461.4 billion for capital spending.


Breaking down the budget, the total capital expenditure stands at N312.6 billion, while recurrent expenditure is N236.5 billion. Once approved, the budget is expected to maintain a 57:43 capital to recurrent expenditure ratio.

Governor Yusuf's budget presentation follows his previous year's “Budget of Restoration and Transformation,” which allocated N350 billion for 2024, with education receiving the largest share of N95 billion.


Governor Abba Yusuf has unveiled the 2025 budget for Kano State, prioritizing human capital and infrastructural development. The total budget stands at N549.1 billion, with key allocations including:

° Education: 31% (N168.3 billion) to enhance access to quality education

° Health: 16.5% (N90.6 billion) to improve healthcare services

° Agriculture: 3.8% (N21 billion) to boost agricultural development

° Infrastructural Development: 12.8% (N70.6 billion) to upgrade state infrastructure

° Manufacturing, Commerce, Industry, and Tourism: 1.2% (N6.6 billion) to promote economic growth

° Environment and Sanitation: 2.8% (N15.5 billion) to ensure a clean and healthy environment

° Governance and Institutions: 17.5% (N98.2 billion) to strengthen institutional frameworks

° Security, Justice, and Emergency Services: 4% (N23.4 billion) to maintain law and order

° Water Supply and Rural Development: 4.9% (N27.2 billion) to improve access to clean water

° Transport Development: 2.3% (N12.8 billion) to enhance transportation networks


° Women, Youth, and People with Special Needs: 3.2% (N17.3 billion) to support vulnerable groups


Despite facing resource constraints, the government is committed to investing in its citizens and building a robust infrastructure to drive growth and development. This budget reflects Governor Yusuf's vision for a transformed Kano State, where education, healthcare, and economic opportunities are accessible to all.

We will not relent in our resolve to alleviate poverty and restore hope, create wealth, generate employment, stimulate agriculture. improve electricity and maximise the overall well-being of our people.


“I beseech you therefore to hastily consider and approve the 2025 Budget Proposals,” he requested.
