Nigerian social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, aka Very Dark Man, has responded to the N500 million fine imposed on him by a Lagos court for defaming renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana.
A Lagos State High Court, presided over by Justice M.O. Idowu, ordered Very Dark Man to remove certain social media posts deemed harmful to Femi Falana's and his son Falz's reputation. The court ruled that the posts, shared on September 24, 2024, unfairly linked Falz and his father to Bobrisky, causing reputational damage.
Justice Idowu declared the posts libelous and detrimental to the Falanas' public image. The court's ruling and N500 million fine have sparked significant attention, highlighting the importance of responsible social media usage.
Very Dark Man (VDM) shared an audio recording where Bobrisky made some explosive claims - he allegedly paid N10 million to Femi Falana to secure a presidential pardon, and what's more, Falz was implicated in the whole ordeal. Essentially, Bobrisky claimed to have bought his way out of trouble, and VDM put it all out there on social media.
It's worth noting that this isn't the only controversy surrounding Bobrisky. There's been talk of a money laundering case, with rumors that the EFCC accepted a N15 million bribe to drop the charges. Seun Kuti even spoke out about it, sharing some insight into the whole situation.

Very Dark Man's latest video has sparked controversy, with many interpreting his actions as a blatant display of defiance and contempt for the court ruling. In the video, VDM is seen chewing gum loudly, hissing at the camera, and then blowing the gum out - a gesture many are viewing as a deliberate snub to the authorities. This provocative behavior has ignited debate, with some seeing it as a bold statement of disregard for the N500m fine imposed upon him.
The question on everyone's mind is: will VDM's unapologetic attitude escalate the situation further?
