Russia's latest attacks on Ukraine have resulted in devastating losses. On October 29, Ukrainian officials reported that Russia's multi-wave assaults on Kharkiv and Kyiv left at least four people dead and four injured.


In Kharkiv, the bombardment claimed four lives in the Osnovianskyi district, announced Mayor Ihor Terekhov. This tragic event followed a guided bomb strike on Monday, October 28, which severely damaged the historic Derzhprom building, a notable landmark from the 1920s.


The attacks also extended to Kyiv, where debris from a downed Russian drone injured four people and sparked a fire in a residential building. These recent incidents are part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has seen escalating tensions and violence in recent months.


Recent Conflicts in Ukraine


Kharkiv Oblast: Russia began an offensive operation in May 2024, shelling and attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses.

Eastern Ukraine Campaign: Ongoing battles in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv Oblasts have resulted in significant losses on both sides.

Southern Ukraine Campaign: Fighting continues in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and surrounding areas.


Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a person injured in the Solomianskyi district is receiving hospital treatment. Additionally, several vehicles caught fire during the incident.


Smoke filled the air in western Kyiv's residential area as fires raged, with photos from the military administration showing burning buildings and cars amidst darkness.


The military administration confirmed Ukraine's air defense units were actively countering a Russian drone attack on Kyiv.


In addition to the Solomianskyi district, debris from Russian drones also landed in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district, but fortunately, no damage was reported.

The ongoing conflict, sparked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, has raged on for over two and a half years. The war has claimed thousands of lives, predominantly Ukrainian, and left numerous cities and villages in ruins.
