Tragedy Strikes Kogi State: 70-Year-Old Man Killed by Lightning Strike - Read the heartbreaking story of Malam Abu Yusuf's sudden demise.

Tragedy struck in Angwa Abocho, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, when 70-year-old Malam Abu Yusuf was fatally struck by lightning. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 17, at approximately 5:40 pm, during a severe thunderstorm.

The community is now in mourning, with many residents shocked by Yusuf's sudden demise. According to Dansoho Sulaiman, an Abocho native, Yusuf was in good health before the tragic event.

Sulaiman recounted the incident: “I received a call from a family friend informing me of Yusuf's passing. Heavy rain pounded Abocho from afternoon till evening, and unfortunately, Yusuf was struck by lightning.”

“He was outside and suddenly there was thunder and lightning.

“He fell victim and died. This has never happened in Abocho community.

“Although I heard it once happened in Anyigba, the people of Abocho are in shock with this sad news because he was hale and healthy up to this time. The deceased is the Imam of Angwa community.”

The burial of Malam Abu Yusuf will occur on Friday, October 18, adhering to Islamic rituals and customs.
