England captain Harry Kane, who worked under Tuchel at Bayern, praised him as a “fantastic coach” and “fantastic person.” Kane scored 44 goals in 45 games under Tuchel.
“To be honest, I haven't heard anything specific about it yet. That's why I can't really comment on it until it's officially announced,” Kane told Sky Germany. “We'll have to wait and see what happens. I obviously know Thomas very well from the last year.”
Lee Carsley's Interim Tenure
Lee Carsley, interim manager since Southgate's resignation, will likely return to his role as under-21s manager. Carsley admitted he wasn't anticipating taking the job long-term.
“I've not really thought much about it. I keep saying the same thing. My remit was six games and I'm happy with that,” Carsley told ITV. “This job deserves a world-class coach who has won trophies, and I am still on the path to that.”
FA's Search Concludes
The FA had also made contact with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the summer, but the Catalan has not given them an answer. With Tuchel's appointment, England's search for a new manager has concluded.

The FA plans to hold a press conference this week to announce Tuchel's arrival. His first major task will be overseeing the World Cup qualifying campaign, starting with the draw in Geneva on December 13.
