Serie A: Atalanta Extend Winning Streak to Three with 2-0 Victory Over Monza

Lazar Samardzic and Davide Zappacosta score off the bench as Atalanta defeat Monza 2-0, extending their Serie A winning streak to three games despite missing key players.

Atalanta's squad depth proved pivotal in their hard-fought 2-0 victory over Monza, with substitutes Lazar Samardzic and Davide Zappacosta delivering crucial goals.

La Dea, on spectacular Serie A form, secured their third consecutive win, boasting 13 goals scored and only two conceded. Despite missing Marco Brescianini, Giorgio Scalvini, and Gianluca Scamacca, Atalanta's bench strength shone.

Monza, unbeaten in three, struggled with injuries to Samuele Birindelli, Stefano Sensi, Andrea Petagna, Roberto Gagliardini, and Alessio Cragno, as well as Warren Bondo's suspension.

Atalanta dominated possession in the first half but struggled to break through. Danilo D'Ambrosio's headers and Marten de Roon's shots went wide. Monza's Samuele Vignato tested Marco Carnesecchi with a long-range snapshot.

The breakthrough came in the 70th minute when Nicolò Zaniolo controlled a ball over the top, and Mateo Retegui laid it off for Samardzic to sweep in. Atalanta almost scored again, but Juan Cuadrado's counter-attack was denied by Kyriakopoulos.

Sealing the win, Zappacosta curled a wonderful right-foot shot into the far bottom corner from the edge of the box.
