According to eyewitness Danlami Ibrahim, the suspect allegedly stole a motorcycle from a farm in Mawogi village. The motorcycle's owner quickly raised an alarm, alerting nearby youths who promptly gave chase. The suspect attempted to flee on the stolen motorcycle but was pursued relentlessly.
As the suspect approached Gawu village, he failed to exercise caution while crossing the expressway and was tragically struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact proved fatal, resulting in the suspect's instant death.
The incident highlights the risks associated with mob justice and the importance of allowing law enforcement agencies to handle such situations. The FCT Police Command has been informed of the incident and is likely to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspect's death.
The suspect, a motorcycle thief, was initially caught alive by an angry mob. However, vigilantes intervened, taking him to Gawu Babangida Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
A police officer at Gawu division, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident. The officer revealed that the deceased's family members collected his body. Additionally, the stolen motorcycle, though severely damaged, was recovered and is now in police custody along with the vehicle involved in the fatal incident.
