LaLiga: Real Madrid Extends Unbeaten Streak with 2-0 Win Over Villarreal Amidst Carvajal Injury Scare

Real Madrid beats Villarreal 2-0, extending unbeaten La Liga streak to 41 games, but win overshadowed by Dani Carvajal's serious knee injury.

Real Madrid continued their unbeaten run in La Liga with a 2-0 victory over Villarreal at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but the win was marred by a serious-looking injury to Dani Carvajal. The Spanish right-back was stretchered off in added time, clutching his knee in agony after a collision with Yeremy Pino.

According to Real boss Carlo Ancelotti, “It seems a serious knee injury, it will be looked at in the coming hours.” The players are understandably worried, considering Carvajal's importance to the team.

Match Highlights:

Federico Valverde's Opener: Valverde struck from the edge of the box, deflecting off Alex Baena, in the 14th minute.

Vinicius Junior's Clincher: Vinicius Junior sealed the win with a fierce long-range effort into the top corner with 17 minutes left to play.

Villarreal's Missed Chances: Nicolas Pepe's header clipped the crossbar, and Thierno Barry headed over the bar.

Real Madrid's Unbeaten Streak:

Ancelotti's side is now undefeated in 41 La Liga matches (W30 D11), the second-best unbeaten streak in the competition's history. Barcelona holds the record with a 43-game unbeaten league run (W34 D9) in 2018.

Current Standings:

The win keeps Real Madrid level on points with Barcelona at the top of the table. However, Hansi Flick's side can go three points clear if they win at Alaves on Sunday.
