EPL: Pickford's Penalty Save Denies Newcastle at Everton

Newcastle's Anthony Gordon misses penalty against former club Everton in goalless stalemate.

Everton and Newcastle United played out a scrappy 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, with Jordan Pickford's penalty save from Anthony Gordon proving crucial.

Newcastle dominated possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Gordon, who faced hostile chants from Everton fans due to his acrimonious exit, missed a 35th-minute penalty, and another opportunity late on.

Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin had claims for a penalty turned down after clashing with Dan Burn. Substitute Idrissa Gueye wasted a golden chance, blazing over an open goal.

Pickford shone throughout, making vital interventions to secure Everton's first clean sheet of the season.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe will be disappointed by his side's inability to capitalize on possession. The absence of injured striker Alexander Isak was evident.
