Edo State: Catholic Diocese of Auchi Reports Abduction of Reverend Father Thomas Oyode, Rector of Immaculate Conception Seminary
The Catholic Diocese of Auchi has reported the abduction of Reverend Father Thomas Oyode, Rector of Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivhianokpodi, Etsako East, Edo State. Father Oyode's kidnapping has sparked widespread concern, and the Diocese is urgently seeking assistance from law enforcement agencies to ensure his safe and swift release.

On Sunday, September 27, gunmen stormed Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivhianokpodi, Etsako East, Edo State, during evening prayers and benediction around 7 PM. They abducted Reverend Father Thomas Oyode, Rector of the seminary, and fled into the surrounding bush.
According to Reverend Father Peter Egielewa, Director of Communications for the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, all other priests and seminarians, including the vice-rector, are safe and have been relocated for protection. However, no communication has been received from Father Oyode's captors.
The Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, founded in 2006 by Bishop Gabriel Dunia, has trained over 500 future priests. Its mission is crucial to the Catholic community.
The diocese urges prayers for Father Oyode's safe release and appeals to authorities to ensure his prompt rescue.
