Nigerian Senate confirms 7 new ministers, including Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Development.

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed seven new ministers nominated by President Bola Tinubu, including Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Bianca, a former beauty queen, is the widow of late Biafra leader Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, who passed away in 2011, 41 years after the Civil War.

The Senate Confirmation of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, widow of Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and six others after their nominations by President Bola Tinubu. The confirmed ministers include:

• Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
• Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda: Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
• Muhammadu Dingyadi: Minister of Labour and Employment
• Dr. Jumoke Oduwole: Minister of Industry, Trade and Development
• Suwaiba Ahmad: Minister of State, Education
• Idi Muktar Maiha: Minister of Livestock Development
• Yusuf Ata: Minister of State, Housing 

These appointments come after President Tinubu's cabinet reshuffle, which involved sacking five underperforming ministers. The new ministers are expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to their respective roles.

The Senate made this confirmation possible after suspending its rules to allow the Special Adviser to the President on Senate matters, Basheer Lado, to bring the nominees into the plenary. This move was initiated by Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
