Benfica kickstart their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade, thanks to goals from Kerem Akturkoglu and Orkun Kokcu.
Benfica commenced their Champions League journey with a thrilling 2-1 win at Red Star Belgrade's Stadion Rajko Mitic. Turkish forward Kerem Akturkoglu marked his European debut for Benfica with a goal, capitalizing on Alexander Bah's looping cross.

Orkun Kokcu doubled the lead with a stunning 25-yard free-kick, leaving goalkeeper Omri Glazer helpless. Benfica dominated the first half, while Red Star struggled to find momentum.
In the second half, Red Star pushed for a comeback, with Rade Krunic and Bruno Duarte testing Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. Felicio Milson reduced the deficit to 2-1 with four minutes remaining, but Benfica held on.
Benfica's Zeki Amdouni and Angel di Maria came close to increasing the lead, but their efforts hit the post and sailed over the bar, respectively.
This victory marks only Benfica's second win in their last eight Champions League opening matches.
